Answer for BIR CoW 10 Nov 2024
SUBCONJUCTIVAL FAT PROLAPSE
Findings
E/o herniation of fat noted at the superotemporal aspect of bilateral epibulbar area which is continuous with the intraconal fat , which extends anteriorly between the lateral wall of the globe medially and lateral rectus muscle laterally Bilateral proptosis
Discussion
It is an acquired condition characterized by the herniation of the intraconal fat , resulting from weakness of the eyeball ad intermuscular septum Typically Bilateral More common in old obese men DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS : Conjuctival dermolipoma Epidermoid cyst Lacrimal gland prolapse Conjuctival dermolipoma : Most common in adult women .Typically unilateral and fairly immobile, not continuous with intraconal fat Subconjuctival fat prolapse : Occurs in elderly men ,typically bilateral and mobile which is seen continuous with intraconal fat
