Left Lower Lobe Consolidation.
If your checklist of chest xray is complete, you wouldn’t have missed this case. Note the lateral part of left hemidiaphragm – how it is ill defined with loss of silhouetting. This is a classical case of left lower lobe consolidation. The patient, a middle aged male presented with fever and cough of one week duration. Since this case was a typical exam-type spotter, we withheld the clinical history. CT chest of the same patient confirms this. Take home message: Never forget basics!
