Round Ligament Fibroid
Findings:
Well defined mass noted in right adnexal region separate from uterus and ovary. Peripheral 'popcorn' type calcification seen.
Right round ligament is thickened. Mass shows enhancement on contrast administration. Tortuous artery noted in right round ligament supplying the mass.
Discussion:
Round ligament fibroids are benign lesions with the usual imaging findings seen in uterine fibroids. The popcorn type of calcification is typically seen in periphery in fibroids . The tortuous artery of round ligament (Sampson's artery) arising from the inferior epigastric artery is the main clue to this quiz case. The round ligament is also thickened and is in continuity with the mass lesion. The mass was removed surgically and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis.
